I'm from California, so I knew immediately it was an earthquake and I could tell by the way it felt that we were near the Epicenter. However, I had not expected an earthquake this big in Idaho and hadn't really thought about what I would do. At first I stood up and turned around in a circle, then I ran to my laundry room and sat in the floor and waited for it to end. I live in a second story apartment, there what's a lot of cracking and popping and up-and-down movement, it slowed down twice and then started again, then it finally died down and stopped. Nothing fell off the walls though and so far I haven't seen any damage.

Felt two distinct quakes. First one was the standard "what am I feeling/hearing"--my chair was moving, the table I was using was moving. Second one, a second or so later, much more noticeable. Definitely had a rumbling/rolling feel to it. Felt as if it started north and proceeded south (I was facing directly north when it started).

It was windy outside and my first thought was it was strong winds. That lasted about 30 seconds. Then the movement got a lot stronger. Luckily nothing got damaged.

Kuna (148 km SW from epicenter)

We have a gas fireplace and there seems to be no damage to the gas line or connection. We checked in immediately with our kids and grands in Boise. Our son was in a store and felt the quake but reported nothing falling from shelves. Our grands thought it was cool (ages 11 & 14).

Bliss (170 km S from epicenter)
We live in a travel trailer so we can feel movements fairly well. My husband and I were talking when we heard a loud rumble and then the trailer shook. It only shook for a few seconds. My parents who were up in the main house (a solid house built out of lava rock) heard the rumble but didn’t feel the shaking.

Bliss (170 km S from epicenter)
Just that there were two of them. One hit and then a few seconds later a second one hit. Also, this earthquake made the world go side to side, not up and down. I’ve lived along the Ring of Fire for most of my life, so I have a lot of experience with the various kinds of earthquakes - each one is unique. Anyway, I think the side to side swaying motion instead of a jerking up and down meant a lot less damage. JMHO.

Homedale (171 km SW from epicenter)
Only that it was pretty steady and continue to gradually slow down.

Gooding (171 km S from epicenter)
