By accessing or using the LastQuake mobile app, the user agrees to be bound all of the terms and conditions described in these Terms. The LastQuake mobile app should not be used if the user cannot agree to all of these terms and conditions. 2. Definition

The « mobile app » is the software designed by the EMSC for Android OS and Apple iOS devices, as well as its updates.

3. User account

The use of the mobile app automatically creates a user account. The user may optionally add their email in the settings section of the website in order to allow us to contact the user concerning technical or scientific questions. The settings section also allows the user to configure some other preferences which are saved to their account.

4. Geolocation

To present you with relevant information (earthquakes near you), the application can optionally scan your location. If provided this data may also be anonymised and used collectively for statistical analyses by the EMSC that can accelerate the detection of important earthquakes and help to estimate their impact.

6. Availability

9. Tsunami information

In the event of an earthquake potentially generating a tsunami or raising questions about tsunami risk, the CSEM provides indicative information on tsunami risk. This information is principally based on data provided by official warning centres. When it is not available, the EMSC estimates the risk based on official centers’ decision models. The EMSC cannot be held responsible for this statement, which does not take precedence over the information issued by the official warning centres, which have authority on the subject.

10. Data Licensing

The data collected from felt reports and comments shared on the EMSC platforms (desktop, mobile websites, applications, and bots on Telegram and Messenger) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). For all other information or materials, please provide appropriate credit, for example: “Credit: EMSC/CSEM, https://www.emsc-csem.org”.

11. User rights related to data protection

In accordance with European Union legislation, users may exercise their rights to access, correct, erase, object to processing, and request data transference where applicable. Requests must be addressed to contact@emsc-csem.org. We will respond within the shortest time possible. You also have the possibility to lodge a complaint with the National Commission for data processing and freedom (CNIL).

The EMSC reserves the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time and with no prior warning.

The information provided by the EMSC is for informational purposes only and is based on the best available data at the time of publication. Due to the nature of real-time earthquake monitoring, this information may be incomplete, delayed, or contain errors and inaccuracies. EMSC offers no warranties, expressly or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the information provided.

EMSC shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or any other damages resulting from the use, interpretation, or reliance on this information. Users assume full responsibility for their use of the data and are encouraged to consult national and local authorities, seismological services and emergency services for critical decision-making.
